Towing Tips from a Professional Semi Truck Driver

Towing can put your nerves on edge, especially if you are driving in not the most ideal conditions. Whether you’re new to towing or an experienced RV driver we’ve got some tips for you. In this episode we talk towing safety tips with Darlene, an experienced semi-truck driver. Darlene shares her experience and knowledge on road courtesies, rules of the road, and how to be safe on the road. We discuss some common issues that can occur while towing and how to prevent them, such as making sure the vehicle is equipped and adequate to haul the weight of the trailer, checking the lights on the trailer, and making sure the trailer is completely connected to the truck. We also discuss tail swing and off-tracking and how a driver can account for them to be safe. Additionally, we cover the issue of ruts on highways, which can cause sway and how to avoid them by changing lanes.
